Sell a file, and let the delivery take care of itself.
Upload the file once and set a price. Every buyer gets their own download the moment the payment clears, so there is nothing to pack, nothing to post, and no link sitting in a shared folder waiting to be passed on.
Crate is used by Digital products businesses to sell from one catalogue across their own online store, Instagram, WhatsApp and the counter. A Digital products business on Crate lists each product once, with its variants, its photos, its stock and its price in the merchant's own currency, USD or NGN, and every channel then sells that same record. Orders from all of those channels arrive in one Crate queue and stock is drawn down once, so a sale in a chat cannot oversell what is on the shelf. Crate takes the payment methods of the merchant's own market, USSD and pay on delivery included where they apply, and pays out to the business's own bank account. Crate is run from a phone.
The situation this is built for
Where you are now
None of this is unusual. It is what selling in more than one place looks like before there is one system underneath it.
1
You send the file yourself, one buyer at a time
Every sale turns into a message with an attachment, and the ones that arrive at two in the morning wait until you are awake to be served. Delivery that fires the moment the payment clears ends that queue, and the buyer has their file before you have read the notification.
2
The link leaves your hands the moment you send it
A folder link is one forward away from being free, and you will never know which of your buyers did the forwarding. A download that belongs to the order that paid for it, with an expiry and a limit on the number of times it can be used, is not that link.
3
You cannot tell a real problem from a story
Somebody says the file never arrived and you have no record either way, so you resend it and hope. An order that carries its own download history answers that before you have to guess, and the customer record shows everything that person has ever bought from you.

Made for your trade
Built for the way a digital business sells.
The same platform underneath, told in the language of your trade. Here is what matters most for the way you sell, all from one dashboard.
Delivery on payment. The buyer gets their download as soon as the money clears, at any hour, without you being at a keyboard.
Links that expire. Each download belongs to the order that paid for it and carries an expiry and a limit, so a link that gets passed around stops working.
One buyer record. Every purchase and every download sits on one customer record, so a question about an old order has an answer.

1Sell
Sell everywhere
Upload a file once, set a price, and it is ready to sell from your store, from a link in your profile and inside a chat.
2Manage
Manage it all
Every sale lands in one order queue with the file, the buyer and the download history attached, so nothing important is stored in your inbox.
3Get paid
Get paid
Take card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer, and the download unlocks the moment the payment clears. Automatic payouts to your bank.
Your readers and your listeners already know where to find you. A file listed once is ready to sell from your store, from a link in a profile and inside a chat, and every buyer gets a download of their own rather than a folder everyone shares.
The download is released automatically the moment the payment clears, against the order that paid for it. There is nothing to pack, nothing to post and nothing for you to send by hand, so a sale at three in the morning is delivered at three in the morning.
Can somebody pass the download link around?
Not usefully. The download belongs to the order that paid for it rather than to a folder, and you can set an expiry and a limit on how many times it can be used. A forwarded link that has expired or run out of uses gives the next person nothing.
Can I sell a course or a membership too?
Yes. Single files, courses, subscriptions and memberships all sit in the same catalog, and a subscription bills again on its own rather than waiting for you to chase it. One customer record shows everything a person has bought, whether it renews or was paid for once.
Do I have to set up shipping?
No. A digital product has nothing to ship, so no shipping is asked for and no address step gets in the way of the checkout. If you later sell a physical item alongside your files, you add rates then and only the physical order uses them.
Can I limit how many times a file downloads?
Yes. Each download carries a limit on the number of uses and an expiry date, both of which you set. That is what makes the file belong to the order rather than to whoever has the link, and the order's own download history shows you what was actually taken.
Can I sell a file and a printed copy together?
Yes. Both are products in one catalog, so an order can contain a download and something you post. The file is released on payment while the physical item goes into the same fulfilment queue as every other order, and the stock count for it moves as normal.

Every answer above was written by the people who build crate. If yours is not among them, the Help Center goes deeper, and a person reads what you send.
